position is open rank, with a preference for candidates at the level of Associate Professor. Strong junior candidates, with Ph.D. in hand, will also be considered. The opening is in the area of Syntax, though exceptionally strong candidates in closely related

with a strong empirical and/or computational orientation, employing empirical or computational methodologies to examine data and topics in contemporary issues in linguistics. This may take the form of active engagement in linguistic fieldwork, the application
of data sciences techniques to linguistic corpora, experimental investigation, or computational methodology to name but a few. Evidence of an additional area of expertise beyond syntax is most welcome and highly valued (e.g., morphology, semantics, in-depth

Linguistics (offered jointly with Computer Science), and a BA in Linguistics. The department most highly values work which links to other departments and programs in the strong interdisciplinary language community at the University of Rochester. The ideal
candidate will have research interests that complement those of faculty in the Department of Linguistics and the broader Rochester language community. The Department of Linguistics is affiliated with the Center for Language Sciences, which includes researchers
