HERITAGE LANGUAGES IN AMERICA
SECOND NATIONAL CONFERENCE
October 18-20, 2002 ** PRE-REGISTER NOW! **

This conference is open to everyone who is interested contributing
to a growing national effort to develop the valuable and largely
neglected non-English language resources that already exist in our
communities. This will be a valuable working and networking
experience for heritage language community program leaders, pre-K-12
teachers and administrators, college and university faculty
and administrators, researchers, and federal and state policymakers.

National Public Radio's CLAUDIO SANCHEZ will be this year's keynote
speaker, sharing from personal and professional experience
insights he has gained into the way people use and view languages.

The conference is sponsored by the Center for Applied Linguistics, the
National Foreign Language Center, and the University of
Maryland, College Park. It will be held in Tysons Corner, VA (outside of
Washington, DC).
