Alexander Lukashenko instructs to draw up new Belarusian spelling and 
punctuation rules

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed the government to 
draw up new Belarusian spelling and punctuation rules. This issue was 
discussed on August 25 in the course of a meeting between the head of state 
and education minister Alexander Radkov. Alexander Lukashenko met with 
Alexander Radkov to receive his report, BelTA was informed in the presidential 
press service. 

According to the press service, at present the Belarusian language is used 
following the rules established in 1957. Meanwhile, the language is developing 
and improving, so the necessity arose to harmonize the Belarusian spelling and 
punctuation rules.
