Plea to restore English medium schools

Mangalore, Feb 9: The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts English Medium
Schools' Association (DKUDEMSA) has urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy
to reconsider the government's language policy and permit the schools to
continue with English as the medium of education. There have been many
English medium schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts since
decades, Mohammad Beary, President of the association told reporters here.
"The compulsory imposition of Kannada as the language of instruction at
the primary level is causing a serious problem to children," he said.

"If the policy is imposed, as many as seven lakh children will face an
uncertain future and their parents will have problems to seek admission
elsewhere," he said. (Agencies)
