PhD Opportunities at the University of Limerick, Ireland

Research opportunities at the University of Limerick
Institute for the Study of Knowledge in Society

The PhD scholarships below arise as a result of the University of
Limerick's participation in the Irish Social Sciences Platform (ISSP)
which brings together expertise from eight Irish institutional
partners and 19 academic disciplines to create a truly all-island,
interdisciplinary platform for social science research. ISSP has been
granted €16.5m as part of the Programme for Research in Third-Level
Institutions (PRTLI), Cycle 4.

These scholarships are worth approximately €17,500 per annum, and also
cover university fees. They are tenable for four years, subject to
satisfactory progress.

Scholarships are available in the following areas:

* Ageing in the community.
* Size discrimination in clinical education and practice.
* Children, perceptions of embodied risk and asthma.
* Here to Stay? Irish Print Media Coverage of Polish Migration to Ireland.
* The interaction of language policy, media and new technology.
* The transmission of Enlightenment ideas between continental Europe,
Britain and the west of Ireland via The Magazine of Magazines, printed
in Limerick from 1751 to 1769.
* The gendered implications of new work/life patterns in the knowledge economy.
* Everyday practices of work mobility in the knowledge economy.
* An examination of policy innovation and politics in the Irish
developmental state.
