Afriforum to meet language board

    January 14 2008 at 08:18PM

AfriForum and the Pan South African Language Board (Pansalb) are to
meet to discuss issues relating to Pretoria University's language
policy, AfriForum said on Monday. AfriForum's chief executive officer
Kallie Kriel said AfriForum - a civil rights initiative founded by
Solidarity - had accepted Pansalb invitation to hold discussions .
This related to a dispute between itself and the university over the
position of the Afrikaans language at the university. "The sooner the
disregarding of Afrikaans as medium of instruction at the university
is addressed the better, as Afrikaans is continuously losing ground at
this university," Kriel said in a statement.
