Pearson poised to buy Shanghai schools chain



Textbook and newspaper publisher Pearson is poised to buy a chain of private
schools in Shanghai to tap into the growing demand for English language
teaching from increasingly affluent Chinese families. The world's biggest
publisher of education materials is in advanced talks with the LEC chain of
15 schools over what will be its first acquisition of institutions.
