CultureWorks provides an environment where foreign students are
immersed in the Canadian culture

When Tina Bax returned from a teaching stint in Korea 11 years ago,
she had an idea about opening an English language school for foreign
students.

But the University of Western Ontario graduate wanted to create a
school that went beyond language and truly operated as a gateway to
Canada by immersing students in Canadian culture from Eh! to Zed.

"I knew from living abroad that it's not just language -- putting the
right word in the right box -- you really have to have the cultural
piece to make it relevant and construct the language," she said.

In 1998 she founded CultureWorks, a program that recruits and trains
foreign students with intensive English language and cultural
training.
