SCEED Center for Applied Linguistics releases survey results
Are U.S. schools preparing students to become competent world citizens
able to communicate in more than one language? To answer this
question, the Center for Applied Linguistics conducted a national
survey of foreign language instruction in elementary and secondary
schools. The publication, Foreign Language Teaching in U.S. Schools:
Results of a National Survey, provides detailed information on current
patterns and shifts over time in five key areas: amount of foreign
language instruction in schools, languages and types of programs
offered, foreign language curriculum, teacher certification and
professional development, and effects of education reform on language
instruction.

report. The complete report can be purchased at CAL’s online store.
