DepEd revives Spanish lessons in select schools

The Department of Education on Monday said it will start the teaching
of Spanish in selected public high schools to better prepare Filipino
students in communicating a widely-used second language.

Dubbed a "Special Program in Foreign Language", the program is for
schools whose students have demonstrated competence in English and are
also capable of learning another foreign language.

The program aims to develop students' skills in listening, reading,
writing, speaking and viewing, which are necessary for the students to
acquire communication skills using a second foreign language.
