"If we are not able to realize this strategy, the survival of the Estonian
language cannot be taken for granted. On the contrary, its extinction will
become more probable," Jüri Valge, language policy counselor to the Ministry
of Education and one of the authors of the document told *Eesti
Päevaleht.*<http://www.epl.ee/artikkel/586585>

"The bottom line objective of the plan is to keep Estonian up to par so that
it can also be used in the year 2050," Valge said. "We now have to see that
young people won't switch over to English but retain a motivation to study
and communicate in Estonian."
