Caribbean language policy conference:

The Institute for Caribbean Language Research Working Group (ICCLR)
welcomes you to the website for the International Conference on
Language Rights in the Creole-Speaking Caribbean. At this conference,
the final version of the Charter on Language Rights and Language
Policy in the Creole-Speaking Caribbean will be discussed and agreed
to. In addition, a document which will guide the implementation of
terms of the charter in individual Caribbean countries will be tabled
for consideration. The conference brings together professional
linguists, on one hand, and representatives of all language
stakeholders, including governments. The aim is to create a truly
regional process for resolving the language problems of the
Creole-Speaking Caribbean. Those who attend this conference and take
part in its discussions, will be engaged in what we hope to be a truly
historical event.
