Meeting Description:

The Winter School on Multilingualism across the Lifespan offers a
three-day programme which will include five plenary papers by invited
speakers, student presentations and a statistics workshop.

The following plenary speakers will give talks:

Scott Jarvis
Kees de Bot
Monika Schmid
Carmen Muñoz
Jesse Snedeker
R.H. Baayen

Call for Papers:

The organisers welcome papers by doctoral students or advanced M.A.
students relating to various perspectives on multilingualism across
the lifespan, i.e. examining at least two different age groups.

This includes the following fields of research:

- Second and foreign language acquisition (L2, L3, Ln) in different age groups
- The interaction between age and rate of acquisition and/or attainment
- Dynamics of language acquisition, maintenance and attrition in
different age groups
- Cross-linguistic influence and age
- Factors influencing and interacting with multilingualism at different ages
- Investigations into the 'critical period hypothesis'
- etc.

Papers will be allocated to thematic sessions. Oral presentations will
be 20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Papers
and abstracts can be in English, German or French.

Abstracts (up to 300 words) should be submitted via EasyAbs:

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 30th September, 2011.
Applicants will be notified by the beginning of November whether or
not their abstract has been accepted. For accepted speakers the Winter
School will be free of charge (except conference dinner).
