Hi all,

I am looking for any information or resources anyone might have about multilingual indexing in library catalogs. A friend of mine who is a librarian is considering this issue at his library. Specifically, the decision has been made to not use subject headings in languages other than English for materials that are published in other languages. (Thus Spanish language materials will be cataloged using English subject headings). The administrators have said that the Library of Congress has no system for using multilingual headings. Other libraries do use multilingual headings, but we were wondering if anyone knew of any studies or publications discussing these issues?

Thanks!
