Sixth Heritage Language Research Institute Deadline!

Dear Colleagues,

The deadline for applications for the 6th Heritage Language Research
Institute, “From Overhearers to High Proficiency Speakers: Advancing
Heritage Learners' Skills,” is March 9, next Thursday. The application
page can be found at
http://apply.international.ucla.edu/Public/ViewForm.aspx?appID=321.
The Institute will take place from June 18-22 at UCLA; further details
can be viewed at: http://nhlrc.ucla.edu/events/institute/2012/.

Applications are invited from language instructors, linguists, and
researchers from other fields whose current focus involves heritage
language teaching and/or research. Limited funding will be available
for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, who are encouraged to
apply.

The Institute is sponsored by the UCLA National Heritage Language
Resource Center and aims to support the center's principal mission of
developing the research base for heritage language education. This
year’s institute is co-sponsored by the NSEP National Language
Flagship Program as part of their Flagship Results 2012 initiative,
and will focus on research and pedagogical approaches that help
advance heritage speakers' language skills toward high levels of
proficiency.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Claire Chik, PhD
