Re. March 31st demonstrations for 'regional' languages in the French 
territories

The demonstrations will be held in:
Tolosa /Toulousefor Occitan,
Kemper /Quimperfor Breton and Gallo, (and New-York for Breton) plus concert.
Strassburg /Strasbourg for Alsacian
Baiona / Bayonne for Basque
Perpinyà / Perpignan for Catalan
Ajacciu/Ajaccio for Corsican
Metz for Lotharingian and Hochdeutsch, Luxemburgish and Lorrain Roman
Rijsel / Lille for Flemish
Saint Quentin and Ons-en-Bray for Picard
Poitiers for Poitevin-Saintongeais
Annecy for Savoyard
Outre Mer territories : Martinique, Guyane, and Réunion for Creole and 
the indigenous languages.

The demonstration organisers, EBLUL-France, the Association des 
Rencontres inter-régionales des langues et cultures régionales, and the 
new European Language Equality Network (ELEN), have called on the French 
presidential candidates to state their position on regional language 
rights and are calling for a change in the constitution so as to:

1) Recognise linguistic diversityin the constitution of andthe rights of 
citizens to their regional or territorial language;
2) French ratification of the Council of Europe's Charter for Regional 
or Minority Languages;
3) For a new law which allows for the co-officiality of regional 
languages in their territories.
