Attention: All Cosmetic Manufacturers and Importers in Sri Lanka
IMPLEMENTING THREE POLICY FOR LABELS OF COSMETICS

Regarding the implementing of Government Language Policy, the
Commissioner of government languages and the Human Rights Commission
had advised Cosmetics, Devices and Drugs Regulatory Authority (CDDA)
on labelling. The labels of drugs, medical devices and cosmetics
should be in official languages.

The Technical Advisory Committee of Ministry of Health approved
implementing three language policy for all labels of cosmetics in the
future, as the first step.

All cosmetic manufacturers and importers in the country are advised to
include following information in Sinhala and Tamil languages in
additional to English as at present.

    Type of cosmetic
    Directions to use
Possible adverse events/ safety data/ warnings

Prior approval for new labels of cosmetics which are already
registered in the country should be obtained from CDDA.

This will be a compulsory requirement for all cosmetics with effect
from 01st of January 2013.

Thank you
