Web Site: http://www.ntnu.edu/multilingualism

Linguistic Field(s): Language Acquisition; Psycholinguistics;
Sociolinguistics; Syntax

Call Deadline: 29-Apr-2013

Meeting Description:

For many years, formal linguistics has focused on the ‘idealized’
monolingual speaker. Other areas of linguistics have been more concerned
with ‘real life’ situations, where speakers often know multiple languages
to a greater or lesser extent. During the past 20 years, work has started
to emerge within the formal literature studying the representation of
grammars in speakers who are multilingual. At the same time,
psycholinguistic studies of bilingualism have contributed significantly to
our understanding of bi- and multilingualism. This conference aims to
discuss work on both the formal and experimental side, focusing on how to
best approach the study of multilingualism.

Call for Papers:

Papers are invited on any topic related to the theme ‘Parallel Grammars and
Multilingualism’, including:

- The formal grammar in an individual who masters multiple/parallel
grammars
- Acquisition and processing in multilingualism (including second language
acquisition)
- Language contact and multilingualism

Each talk will be 20 minutes followed by a 10 minutes question and answer
session. About 20 talks will be accepted.

Submissions should be at most 2 A4 pages including references. Please
submit in pdf format.

The conference will also feature a poster presentation by young scholars.
When submitting, please indicate if you are submitting for a talk, a
poster, or both.

Abstracts should be submitted using the following website:
