*Job Summary:* The position is a tenure track, 10.5-month appointment (with
12-month employment possible) in the Department of Teacher and Bilingual
Education, beginning in the Fall of 2014.

*Job Responsibilities:* The successful candidate will be the administrative
and curricular leader of the department and will teach half time in the
Department. Quality performance will also be expected in research,
advisement, and committee work.

*Minimum Qualifications:*
1. Earned Doctorate in a field related to those within the Department. Must
have 18 graduate hours for every field in which the applicant will teach
from a regionally accredited institution or university.
2. Credentials sufficient to be eligible for tenure and the rank of
Professor or Associate Professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
3. Leadership abilities with a vision to develop and enhance programs in
the department.
4. Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary department in curricular,
budgetary, grant-writing, and administrative matters.
5. Evidence of teaching excellence in a discipline within the department.
6. Experience and/or knowledge in teaching and/or supervising online
courses and online delivery.
7. Ability and desire to address the educational needs of a diverse
population.

 *DEPARTMENT OF TEACHER AND BILINGUAL EDUCATION:*

The Department of Teacher and Bilingual Education is housed in the College
of Education and Human Performance, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a
Hispanic Serving Institution. The department, with 14 full-time faculty,
offers an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies; Masters
programs in Bilingual Education, Early Childhood Education, Reading, and
Special Education; and the Nation's premiere doctoral program in Bilingual
Education. The department and the Center for Educator Preparation Services
work together to prepare pre-service teachers for certification in a
variety of content areas.  Approximately 350 undergraduate majors;120
graduate students, and 35 doctoral students are currently enrolled in the
programs. The College of Education and Human Performance is accredited by
the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by the State Board for
Educator Certification.
