Central Bank bags award for promotion of national language Our Bureau
  Mumbai, July 5:

Central Bank of India has been awarded first prize for the year 2012-13 by
the Andhra Pradesh State-Level Bankers’ Committee for promoting the
official language in the bank.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, handed over the
Shield and Certificate to K. Eswar, Field General Manager, Central Bank of
India, at the 184th Andhra Pradesh State Level Bankers’ Committee held in
Hyderabad, the public sector bank said in a statement.

All public sector banks (PSBs) implement the Official Language Policy
(Hindi) of the Centre in line with the Official Languages Act 1963 and
Official Languages Rules 1976.

To comply with the Official Languages Rules 1976, PSBs’ stationery items —
name boards, visiting cards, routine forms, I cards — are bilingual,
letters received in Hindi are replied in Hindi, and all efforts are made to
achieve the targets fixed for originating correspondence in Hindi and
noting in Hindi, according to the annual programmes issued by the Ministry
of Home Affairs.
