Royal Institute launches national language strategies

 BANGKOK, 24 November 2014 (NNT) - The Royal Institute has developed the
national language strategies in the hope to solve the problem of weak
reading and writing skills.

President of the committee on national launguage strategies Jiraphon Bunnak
said the institute's national language policy had been approved by the
previous governments in 2010 and 2012. Under the policy, the strategies
were developed based on the institute's findings that Thai language
teaching was out of date, resulting in low language proficiency among
Thais, said Ms. Jiraphon.

The national language strategies target both Thai and foreign people
working in Thailand. The strategies address Thai dialects and sign language
as well as the use of language to prevent hatred
