Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman L. Hanumanthaiah on Saturday
urged the State government to come out with a new education policy that
will enable the implementation of Kannada as a compulsory first language
from classes I to X in all schools.

*Tamil Nadu model*

At a programme organised by the KDA to felicitate 48 judges who delivered
judgments in Kannada, Mr. Hanumanthaiah suggested that it could be on the
lines of Tamil Nadu model. He also wanted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to
pressure the Centre to come out with a national language policy.
