Three recent blog posts may be of interest to some on this list:

1) Two upcoming meetings on language & ICT in Africa (in different
ways, the BAAL Language in Africa SIG meeting in London in May and the
Interspeech 2016 Special Session on "Sub-Saharan African languages: from
speech fundamentals to applications" in Sept. will look at language and
technology in Africa) 8 January 2016

2) Wikipedia at 15 & African languages (while the English edition of
Wikipedia celebrates its 15th anniversary, many younger African language
editions are struggling) 31 January 2016

3) IMLD 2016 & education in Africa (the theme of International Mother
Language Day this year - "Quality education, language(s) of instruction,
and learning outcomes" - seems to be especially relevant to multilingual
Africa) 21 February 2016
