Nazarbayev Instructed to Change Kazakh Alphabet to Latin

The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed to draw up a timetable of the transition Kazakh alphabet to Latin, LNR reports citing to the article, published in "Egemen Kazakhstan" ("Independent Kazakhstan").

"Until the end of 2017, after consultation with scientists and members of the public should be developed a single standard for a new alphabet and charts in Latin. In 2018 it is necessary to prepare professionals to teach and produce textbooks for high school. In the next two years it is necessary to carry out all organizational and methodical work", Nazarbayev noted.

According to him Kazakhstan fully to abandon the Cyrillic alphabet needs by 2025.

"The deadline is approaching, and we wasted no time, should undertake this work," — said the head of state. According to him, the new alphabet will help to modernize the society will facilitate communication with the outside world, will help kids quickly to learn English.

To note, for the First Time Nazarbayev made for the transition to the Latin alphabet in December 2012.

"This will serve not only the development of the Kazakh language, but also turn it into a modern language of information," he said. The President stressed that the country will be taken consistent measures for the development of the state language, but no one should be disadvantaged by language or ethnicity.
