*DIMAPUR, MAY 6, 2018:* The principal secretary, school education and
SCERT, Menukhol John, on Saturday has issued a notification in regards to
the implementation of the three language policy and promotion of Naga local
dialects in the state.

According to the policy, textbooks on Naga heritage studies in local
languages will be introduced from Class I in the state from the 2018
academic session and Alternative English will be abolished in a phased
manner starting from Class V and from Classes VI to VIII from 2019 in all
schools in Nagaland.

However, in the urban areas, in addition to the usage of local languages,
textbooks on Naga heritage studies will also be available in English to be
used for non-local students (those outside the linguistic group of the
local area).

The chairman of Nagaland Board of Secondary Education has asked for a
compliance report from all affiliated higher secondary and high schools and
a list of the defaulting schools for taking action.
