[lg policy] Principal calls for change of language policy Dr. Emmanuel Nyaamekye By Kofi Mensah, GNA Akrokerri (Ash), Feb 13, GNA – Dr. Emmanuel Nyaamekye, the Principal of Akrokerri College of Education, has called for a change of the language policy in basic schools. He is asking that the English language is taught in the early stages of the child’s education. “When we start teaching the children English language right from the crèche it would help them greatly as they progress to the upper classes.” He was speaking at a ceremony held to formally admit 460 fresh students into the College at Akrokerri, in the Adansi North District. Dr. Nyaamekye complained about inadequate residential accommodation for students and appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to speed up work on a hostel project in the school.
