Dear Lisa,

Thanks for your comments. I'll be happy to share what I find.

Steinhardt has PhD's in both TESOL and Bilingual Education. I'm discovering that very few schools offer these degrees-most are more general degrees in SLA or literacy with concentrations in the above.

In the meanwhile, feel free to contact me with specific questions about our programs.

Best,

> Hello Miriam,
>
> Your survey would have been the very thing I was
> looking for a year ago and would have been a great
> help to me when looking for a program. As a hopeful
> candidate I can not comment on the quality of the
> programs, since I have no experience with any of them,
> nor do I know of anyone who has. I do know that they
> were hard to find. Many schools offer MA's or EdM's,
> but few seem to offer PhD's in this area. I know that
> George Mason University and Indiana University
> Bloomington have programs (as well as the Steinhardt
> School). I was interested in finding a program at a
> university that offered International Education as a
> focus as well.
>
> Would you please send me a copy of what you discover
> in your survey?
>
> Thank you,
>
> Lisa Pierce
>
>
> --- Miriam E Ebsworth <mee1@nyu.edu> wrote:
>
>
> ---------------------------------
>
> Dear Colleagues,
>
> I have been asked to do a very quick survey of US
> doctoral programs (Ph.D. and Ed.D) in TESOL and
> Bilingual Education- and more general programs with
> concentrations in one or both.
>
> I'm on a super short timeline and would deeply
> appreciate your list of programs you think are
>
> l.
