<div>BOCA: The South Florida Journal of Linguistics <br><br><br>Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics<br><br>Call Deadline: 01-Sep-2008 <br><br>The 2008 Fall publication will have a thematic focus of Culture and <br>Language Change. While papers addressing any facet of this field will be <br>
considered, the editors are especially interested in papers addressing the <br>following: <br><br>- Language change as a function of global and/or local contact <br>- Dialectical differences related to, or resulting from, socio-cultural <br>
factors <br>- Theories, especially socio-cultural ones, which aim to explain how and <br>why languages change <br>- Developments or modifications of cultural identities as a function of <br>linguistic change or contact <br>
- Arenas of human interaction that are fertile grounds for language change <br>- Socio-cultural factors that drive similarities and differences within <br>languages, and within patterns of linguistic change <br><br>Submissions should be no more than 20 pages, or approximately 6,000 words, <br>
and should follow the guidelines of the Linguistic Society of America's <br>Language and the Unified Linguist Style Sheet--available through the <br>Linguist List. <br><br>Reviews of books which address these issues are also welcome. These <br>
submissions should be between 1,000-2,000 words. <br><br>A separate title page should include the author's name, e-mail address and <br>mailing address. The author's name should not appear on the manuscript <br>pages to allow for blind review. Please also include a short (100-200 <br>
word) abstract, to be used upon publication. <br><br>Submissions must be received by September 1, 2008 and should be sent as <br>attachments using Microsoft Word to: bocajournal<img src="http://linguistlist.org/images/address-marker.gif" align="absBottom"><a href="http://gmail.com">gmail.com</a></div>
