Whole Foods store employees in New Mexico say they were suspended after
complaining that they weren't allowed to speak Spanish at work; a Whole
Foods executive has said that according to policy, English-speaking
employees must speak English to customers and other employees while on
the clock. </p>

This would be the policy known as deferred action, introduced last
summer, which offers temporary legal status to young unauthorized
immigrants who arrived in the U.S. before turning 16. The House voted
224-201 against funding the policy as part of a Homeland Security
appropriations measure. The change will likely face resistance in the
Senate.</p>

Leading Republicans, among them Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, are

Two workers at a Whole Foods store in Albuquerque, New Mexico say they
were suspended after complaining because a manager told them they
couldn't speak Spanish on the job. According to a Whole Foods executive,
"our policy states that all English speaking Team Members must speak
English to customers and other Team Members while on the clock."</p>

Rep. Raul Labrador, a Republican from Idaho, has dropped out of a House
group - named for its Senate counterpart - working on an immigration
reform proposal. Labrador reportedly could not find a compromise with
other members on health care for unauthorized immigrants seeking
legalization.</p>

FBI has corrected itself on which offices were raided in Sacramento
this week: Two offices were searched, but both belonged to Democratic
Sen. Ron Calderon of Montebello. The second was at first misidentified
as that of the Latino Legislative Caucus, which the agency now says was
not a target.</p>
<p><a href="http://news.yahoo.com/colorado-approves-drivers-licenses-illegal-immigrants-012928354.html">Colorado approved driver's licenses for illegal immigrants - Reuters </a>Colorado's
governor has become the latest to state to sign into law a state
measure allowing unauthorized immigrants to apply for driver's licenses.
California is weighing a similar bill, which the Los Angeles City
Council <a href="http://www.scpr.org/blogs/multiamerican/2013/06/05/13911/la-city-council-backs-ca-bill-that-would-let-unaut/">voted in support of yesterday</a>.</p>
