Please see below regarding a colloquium at Georgetown titled, "Commemorating George Veditz and Georgetown University Pioneers in 100 Years of Sign Language Documentation," sponsored the Sign Language Research Lab, the GUMC Center for Brain Plasticity and
Recovery and the Georgetown University Reflective Engagement in the Public Interest initiative. If anyone is in--or planning to be in--the D.C. area at this time, this looks to be a promising lecture.
Subject: Commemorating Pioneers in 100 Years of Sign Language Documentation

I would like to share information with you on an upcoming Georgetown University lecture series hosted and sponsored by the Sign Language Research Lab, the GUMC Center for Brain Plasticity and Recovery and the Georgetown University Reflective Engagement in the Public Interest initiative. The project is entitled: “Revitalizing the Pioneering Role of Georgetown University in Sign Language Research” and events will celebrate the innovative sign language research of Georgetown-trained pioneers and will build new collaborations for conducting digital multi-media research on sign languages and deaf communities. The first event will take place on November 15, 2013 and is entitled "Commemorating George Veditz and Georgetown University Pioneers in 100 Years of Sign Language Documentation. " The event features panel workshops and an evening film showcase and is open to all free of charge. There will be full access via English-American Sign Language interpreting.

We have attached a flyer and summary information on the event for your use. We would very much appreciate your sharing this information and the flyer with your network of Recovering Voices friends, so that they can note the date, the main presenters, and the overall schedule and location of events. It is also available at our Sign Language Research Lab website: http://cbpr.georgetown.edu/researchlabs/slrl/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v1/url?u=http://cbpr.georgetown.edu/researchlabs/slrl/&k=diZKtJPqj4jWksRIF4bjkw%3D%3D%0A&r=Imj7ibcSvNnw1fsWnuFO6g%3D%3D%0A&m=F75L9v7VIOII6BCmF9NkdgslrM0ZVYsn9F89jmfI8pM%3D%0A&s=3d3590b4efb7c9f3106a5eb7dfacc45a300e2ababa71d51e8bb96c899d730584> Additional details and supporting material, such as logistical information such as maps and parking details, will be added to the webpage as we get closer to the event.
