The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) says a change in the language policy at
Stellenbosch University would be unconstitutional.<br>

This comes as student transformation group Open Stellenbosch is calling
for the institution to offer more classes in English as opposed to
Afrikaans.<br>
<br>
The chairperson for Parliament's higher education committee, Yvonne
Phosa says management will have to explain their language policy as it
excludes groups who don't understand the language.<br>
<br>
However leader of the FF+ Pieter Mulder says university management
should not change Afrikaans as the main medium of instruction.<br>
<br>
“Article 29 of the Constitution says it’s possible to have a university
and you study in your mother tongue. We’ve got 38 university campuses at
this stage, 36 of them are predominately English already.”<br>
