MNS chief Raj Thackeray wants a new domicile policy for Maharashtra to
ensure that local inhabitants get a lion's share in the state's
development vis-a-vis the migrants.<br><br>Thackeray also lashed out at the judiciary for interfering in matters which, he said, fell under the purview of the executive.<br><br>"The
courts should function within its framework," he said, referring to the
recent high court order on the knowledge of Marathi being made
mandatory by the traffic authorities while granting taxi and
autorickshaw permits. "I plan to launch a stir on the issue...I don't
care about contempt of court," he said.<br><br>The MNS wants taximen and auto drivers in the city to gain working knowledge of Marathi, the state's official language.<br><br>Thackeray
has cleverly combined the twin issues of domicile policy and Marathi
language to tug at the heartstrings of Mumbaikar Marathis in the run-up
to the BMC polls, said observers. That chief minister Devendra Fadnavis
should pat Thackeray on the back for raising the domicile policy issue
is not without political significance, they added. Thackeray met
Fadnavis earlier in the day and urged him to draw up a fresh domicile
policy.<br><br>Thackeray
said Fadnavis has agreed to look into the matter at the earliest. "The
chief minister described as excellent my suggestion about a new domicile
policy for the state," he added. Thackeray came down heavily on the
Shiv Sena-BJP ruled BMC for the shoddy road repairs.<div class=""><div class=""><div class=""><h2><span>Latest</span> Comment</h2><span class="">Where

ruefully.<br><br>The
MNS leader also pulled up minister for education and cultural affairs
Vinod Tawde for not expediting the administrative process at the Centre

declare Marathi as a classical language," he added.<br><br><a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/Need-new-domicile-policy-to-protect-sons-of-the-soil-Raj-Thackeray/articleshow/53750027.cms">http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/Need-new-domicile-policy-to-protect-sons-of-the-soil-Raj-Thackeray/articleshow/53750027.cms</a><br clear="all"><br>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature">**************************************<br>N.b.: Listing on the lgpolicy-list is merely intended as a service to its members<br>and implies neither approval, confirmation nor agreement by the owner or sponsor of the list as to the veracity of a message's contents.
