Flays Centre for “anti-people” measures

Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has flayed the Sangh Parivar
for “attempting to promote one rashtra (nation), and one language
policy” and the BJP-led government at the Centre for “pursuing
anti-people and anti-farmer policies”.

Addressing a public meeting
here on Sunday night as part of the party’s nationwide campaign against
“politics of terror pursued by the Sangh Parivar”, Rafiq Ahmed, Social
Democratic Party of India State vice-president, said the Parivar’s
attempt to promote one country, one language, one culture and one
religion would pose a serious threat to unity in the country of
plurality. India was a country of more than a billion people, more than

every transaction was made in Hindi in Parliament, the MPs from Tamil
Nadu and other non-Hindi States would sit as aliens in their own
country, he said.

Terming the attacks on Dalits for eating beef or
slaughtering cows most inhuman, he said it was unfortunate that the
Sangh Parivar unleashed attacks on the oppressed people who were also
Hindus.

Farmers were discouraged from rearing cows as they could
not sell them after they became old, he said. The number of buffaloes
was increasing in States where the ban was in force, and cows
constituted only 60% of the cattle population.
But cows
constituted 90% of the cattle population in States like Tamil Nadu and
Kerala, where there was no ban on cow slaughter, he said, citing the
