<br>

<br>
In my teaching about World Englishes, one of the week focuses on Singapore, citing
<br>
the likes of Lisa Lim (e.g. <a href="https://benjamins.com/catalog/aila.22.05lim" target="_blank">https://benjamins.com/catalog/<wbr>aila.22.05lim</a>) in
<br>
portraying Singapore's language policy as rather blunt-edged and heavy-handed. But a
<br>
New York Times article published yesterday, <a href="https://goo.gl/VKsR9D" target="_blank">https://goo.gl/VKsR9D</a>, suggests that this
<br>
policy may be lightening somewhat. That could just be sensationalised media fluff
<br>
though. Does anyone know of any research (published on in progress) tracking this
<br>
nascent change? Or failing that, can anyone either corroborate or challenge this
<br>
article's claims?
<br>

<br>
Thanks in advance!
<br>

<br>
Dave
