<p>Chennai: The State government is looking forward to have a policy for
culture, said Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture
and Archeology K Pandiarajan.</p>
<p>He said this at a function organised by Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra
here recently, where ‘NadanaKalaiImayam Award’ was presented to V P
Dhananjayan and ‘NaatyaKalasagaram Award’ to Shanta Dhananjayan, the
legendary Natya couple of India, together known as The Dhananjayans.</p>
<p>Pandiarajan mentioned about how he admired the Bharatanatyam
exponents The Dhananjayans and would like them to contribute more to the
nation in joining the political discourse when it comes to art and
social issues, a press release said.</p>
<p>He said his Ministry is looking to have a policy for culture and
requested that eminent people like The Dhananjayans should contribute
with ideas in framing the policy. He also had a word of appreciation on
the award titles and its symbolism – Mountain for the male and Ocean for
the female.<br>
Madras High Court judge Justice R Subramanian spoke about Bharatanatyam,
its origin and its being the oldest known classical dance form in
Tamilnadu.<br>
Accepting the awards, The Dhananjayans said that they were delighted to receive the award.</p>
<p>Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra president Saravanan, vocational service
director S Saiseshan, Rotarians Rajesh and Mohan were present.</p></div>
