Fakhar Zaman, president of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) cultural
wing, has announced holding of ten seminars on culture and literature
starting early next month. The announcement was made after a meeting of
the central wing of the party. Zaman said that they would hold seminars
and symposia in all provinces whereas first few would be held in Lahore.
Tariq Khurshid, former Bait-ul-Mal managing director and PPP stalwart,
who is secretary general of cultural wing, will be the coordinator. The
seminars would be held on a wide range of topics, including Zulfikar Ali
Bhutto (the cultural hero), cultural policy of Benazir Bhutto’s
governments, literature written during military dictator Zia’s regime,
poetry and articles written on Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom, women
empowerment during PPP governments, ZA Bhutto as a writer, Bilawal
Bhutto (symbol of youths aspiration), PPP and Sufism in Sind, PPP
language policy and peace initiatives. High profile scholars, writers,
intellectuals, educationists, linguists, media persons and journalists
will speak and read papers. Efforts will be made to invite scholars from
abroad.</p></div></article></div></div>
