Dr Samala Ramesh Babu, president of the Telugu Bhashodyama
Samakhya recalled in a statement here on Monday that Chief Minister N
Chandrababu Naidu announced during the official celebration of Telugu
Language Day in 2017, that the bill would be introduced in the Assembly
to establish Telugu Development Authority. However, the Authority was
set up through a government order instead of the bill in the Assembly
which was not proper, he said.

Dr Ramesh Babu opined that several works which have to be
undertaken by the Telugu Development Authority were linked with the
government policy decisions like official language policy and
implementation of Telugu medium in education. ``It is not proper to
establish such an important institution through a government order,” he
averred.

The Telugu Bhashodyama Samakhya conducted a workshop here on
Sunday to discuss the steps to be taken for the development of Telugu
language. ``Considering such important issues like Telugu language
development, the government should immediately spell out its policies on
implementation of official language in general administration,
legislation and judiciary and in the education sector,’’ participants at
 the workshop demanded.

The government order listed out six types of penalties for
violating the norms set by the Telugu Development Authority. However,
the legal experts express doubts over the implementation of such
penalties, the workshop stated and added that there are some other
ambiguities in the government order and they should also be rectified.

The workshop appealed to the government to go ahead with the
