windmill built in Llanddeusant, near Bodedern in 1775 was restored
during the early 1980’s by the then island borough council and remains
the only working windmill in Wales.

The authority, describing the
“unique opportunity to lease one of Anglesey’s top tourist
attractions,” is asking for a guide rent of £21,000 a year to take over
its running.

An advertisement posted on the council's website
said: "The council is offering the property on a full repairing and
insuring lease with a requirement that the site is to remain as a
tourist attraction, open to the public and comply with the Isle of
Anglesey County Council’s bilingual language policy.

Earlier this year, in a bid to keep the sails turning, councillors approved a £40,000 one-off payment to keep the attraction open for 2018.

However, its future after 2019 remains unknown if no lease holders are found.

In 2007 the site was expanded with the addition of a replicated
prehistoric village which includes two 10m diameter roundhouses
furnished with the sort of household implements and tools that Iron Age
inhabitants would have used in their daily lives.

While there were once over 30 working windmills on Anglesey, all had fallen into disrepair by the early 20th century.

But Melin Llynnon was specifically earmarked for restoration due to it still retaining much of its original machinery.

For more information visit here
