                <p>Two weeks after a new report from the federal auditor general 
revealed that the government’s plan to pour billions of dollars into 
interim measures to keep Canada’s aging fleet of fighter jets up and 
running during the process of procuring permanent replacements <a href="https://ipolitics.ca/2018/11/20/purchasing-new-interim-fighter-jet-fleet-wont-allow-canada-to-meet-norad-nato-commitments-oag-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">may not be sufficient to meet current and future international military commitments</a>, <strong>PUBLIC ACCOUNTS</strong> members are ready to question the analysts behind the findings.</p>
<p>According to the notice, the committee will also hear from senior defence officials: <strong>Deputy Minister Jody Thomas, Assistant Deputy Minister Patrick Finn</strong> and <strong>Lt.-Gen. A. D. Meinzinger</strong>,
 commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force, who can all expect to be 
quizzed on their intended response to the report, as well the program 
itself.</p>
<p>Over at <strong>FOREIGN AFFAIRS</strong>, MPs will be briefed on the human rights situation in Venezuela by a panel of expert witnesses from the International <strong>Organization for Migration, the Organization of American States</strong> and the<strong> Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees</strong>, as well as former Liberal justice minister<strong> Irwin Cotler</strong>, the founding chair of the <strong>Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. </strong></p>
<p>Also on the Commons committee circuit:</p>
<ul><li><strong>INDUSTRY</strong> hears from lawyers and legal experts 
specializing in intellectual property, as MPs continue to explore the 
state of Canada’s copyright laws.</li><li>Representatives from Indigenous healing lodges across Canada offer 
their shared and individual insights on emergency shelters and 
transition support available to women and children affected by intimate 
partner violence at <strong>STATUS OF WOMEN. </strong></li></ul>
<p>On the Senate side, <strong>Official Languages Minister Mélanie Joly</strong> fields questions on the push to update Canada’s bilingualism laws at <strong>OFFICIAL LANGUAGES,</strong> while over at <strong>NATIONAL SECURITY</strong>, senators are still going through the fine print of the planned harmonization of cross-border customs operations.</p></div>
