Job announcement for a position in the Communication Deptl at the U. of
Northern Iowa.  Please reply to the email listed in the announcement rather

                                                POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT


POSITION:   Assistant Professor of Applied  Communication (tenure track)

STARTING DATE:   August 27, 2001

SALARY:   Negotiable, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
UNI provides a lucrative fringe benefit package including TIAA-CREF,
BC-BS,  and Delta Dental.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Required: Ph.D. in Communication.  (ABD's will be
considered with evidence of projected completion by August 1, 2001).
Demonstrated interest in teaching organizational communication and other
applied course work in areas such as negotiations, or health
communication, or computer mediated communication or others.  Experience
in college/university level teaching with a demonstrated record of
excellence. Quantitative research methods background preferred.
Research and/or publication record desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach three courses (minimum of  9 hours) per
semester.  Teaching responsibilities will include course work from the
above list.  Additional teaching will come from person's area of
expertise/interest and/or be adjusted to meet departmental and
university needs.  Opportunity may exist to teach graduate course work
and direct MA thesis/ research projects.

 All members of the faculty are expected to participate in curriculum
development as well as department and university governance. In
addition, each faculty member is expected to pursue individual
scholarship and professional service.
