WARNING: YOU MAY HAVE A VIRUS

Folks,

Someone sent a message to the Linganth list that had a virus attached. It
managed to get past the filters and got out to some of you, depending on
whether or not your own networks managed to catch it inbound. It did appear
in the digest, too. Here's the info:

Virus Incident Information
Author: owner-linganth at ats.rochester.edu
Subject: Snowhite and the Seven Dwarfs - The REAL story!
Date: 3-26-2001

The file attachment dwarf4you.exe you sent to the recipients listed above
was infected with the W32/Hybris.gen at MM virus.

I am in communication with the IT folks at U Rochester where the list is
based; we will keep you posted as to further developments.

***What to do NOW:

1) If you received the Snow White &c. message, please DO NOT open the
message and contact your sysadmin IMMEDIATELY.

2) If you are on an independent system at home, please run whatever virus
software package you may have. If you haven't got one, delete that e-meil
message. (I really hope you haven't opened it; it has the classic "risky"
type subject header that should raise a warning flag.)

I am closing the list to all attachments and non-text submissions. I will
be closing the automatic subscription option and making subscriptions a
manual process (alas!).

My apologies for the inconvenience,

-Richard
