transcribing digitized recordings

i work at a d.c.-based international radio station that is entirely
digital --
we use minidisks almost exclusively when taking interviews etc...

no one on our production staff has heard of a mini-disk transcription
machine
(with or without footpedals)

there is, however, a lot of great software that you can use ... maybe a
trial
version would work (or an educational version)

write me if you want more info

best,
michael

Subject: transcribing digitized recordings

Dear Folks,

Does anyone know of a machine with foot pedals or a software program
that would facilitate the transcription of digitized recordings? A student
of mine has just bought a mini-disk digital recorder and is wondering how
she's going to transcribe her recordings.

     Thanks.

                   Peace,
                   Laura
