Uh, this seems to be an obvious point, but as no one has mentioned it I
figured I might as well --

Meaning derives from context, and the excerpt posted on linganth did not
include the context in which it originally appeared, therefore we don't
really have enough inforrmation to interpret how the excerpt works/doesn't
work as satire, political commentary, humor, etc.

Has anybody seen the original Vanity Fair piece?  How is the piece as a
whole framed, and what is the specific linguistic context of the excerpt in
question?  And what issue of Vanity Fair was it in?
