[Linganth] request for sources

Dear Linganthers,

I have an undergraduate student interested in doing a semester
research paper on  media and effects on English (mostly American)
dialects.  Primarily, she is interested in work on television in
local/regional markets, but would extend beyond that into other media
and other issues.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Please respond off-list, but I'm happy to compile responses for
anyone interested.
