Hello all,

I have been lurking to see if anyone mentioned a few things that I have

found valuable.

There is a great Star Trek clip "Darmok" available on you tube that
complements teaching Basso's ethnography "Wisdom Sits in Places."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukMNfTnI5M8

Also I had not seen "Diverted to Delhi," which goes well with Cameron's

article "Communication and Commodification: Global Economic Change in
Sociolinguistic Perspective" and other modules on globalization and
language.

I also second "Speaking in Tongues"

To complement Abu-Lughod's "Veiled Sentiments," I have used "Dreaming
in
Morocco" and "Jesus Loves you Where You Are: Three Generations of
Pentecostal Women"

Many other films I have seen recommended are great but I wanted to also

mention "Life in a Day," a film that could be used in many ways, but I
use in my introductory lectures sometimes with "The Anthropology Song"
(youtube). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHv6rw6wxJY as well as a
final clips that my students "turned me on to/ tuned me into"

Have a great end of the semester,
