2 tenure-track positions at UC Irvine

The Department of Anthropology at UC Irvine is looking to fill two  
tenure-track positions this coming fall (1 assistant; 1 assistant OR  
associate). Though the ad lists the positions as sociocultural, we're  
particularly interested in linguistic anthropologists applying as well.

The Department of Anthropology at the University of California,  
Irvine, invites applications for two tenure-track positions in  
sociocultural anthropology beginning July 1, 2012. One position will  
be at the Assistant Professor level, and the second will be at the  
Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. The PhD is required  
at the time of appointment. We welcome applicants with a strong record  
of ethnographic fieldwork and theoretical innovation in one (or  
ideally two) of the following areas: 1) environment, science, and  
technology; 2) language and culture; 3) urban studies; and 4) feminist  
theory. Geographic area of expertise is open, but candidates with a  
research focus in Latin America are particularly encouraged to apply.  
Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and  
graduate teaching and mentoring, as well as to incorporating critical  
attention to gender, race, religion and class in their research and

expertise, a CV, a writing sample or publication, and three letters of
