When I first posted this position announcement below, I forgot to put the closing date for applications, which is December 1, 2012 (the closing date in the complete ad below is in the American format month/day/year).

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas, Austin, invites applications for a position in linguistic anthropology at the rank of Associate Professor beginning Fall 2013. We welcome applicants with a strong record of research funding and ethnographic fieldwork, application of linguistic theories and methods to questions in anthropology with broad sociocultural implications, and theoretical innovation. Specialty and geographical area are open, though a candidate who integrates well with the established strengths of the department is preferred. The selected candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research program, direct graduate research, demonstrate evidence of successful research productivity, and exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand and an established reputation of high quality research and scholarly production as well as have a demonstrated record as effective classroom teacher at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience. FRD #6168
