Hello all! Just a quick heads up from your friendly SLA Program Committee chair:

You have just over a week to put together the final version of any session or roundtable you would like to be considered for Executive Session status for AAA 2016. I've cut and pasted the info below - please note that the deadline is Feb 17th, 5pm EST (10PM GMT).

Some notes especially for those who have not organized a session before (but perhaps useful to those of us who have, as well?):

For those who wish to submit for Section Invited status, the deadline is the same as the standard deadline, April 15, 2016 (5pm EDT, as we will have sprung forward at that point). This seems a lovely long way off, I know, but those who have already begun to think about and organize sessions are going to be in much better shape in the long run. I'd like to encourage folks who are thinking about sessions to put together their draft descriptions and send out calls for papers on this, and other, lists. Once you have the papers, you can refine the session abstract, and submit a coherent, thoughtful whole for review.

There are benefits which derive from getting started early, and connecting with the wider community. For one thing, you discover colleagues doing work related to your own with whom you were previously unfamiliar. This is a marvelous and enriching experience, one of the best things about AAA. Another significant plus is that you can invite the discussant you especially want early, before they have committed to another session. Finally, getting started early allows you to develop a much stronger and more coherent session abstract, making your session more competitive for invited status.

Have fun, and put together some excellent sessions for review!
