I am writing to let you know that there is going to be a memorial for
Barney Bate at the AAA.  The Society for Linguistic Anthropology has
reserved a room  and time on the schedule for

Friday, Nov. 18 at 7:45.
Minneapolis Convention Center, Room: 206AB

We welcome anyone who wants to speak and want to use this
ritual moment to share how much his loss affects all of us deeply.
