anthropology at Hamilton College


Position Description:

The Anthropology Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a
tenure-track position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor,
beginning July 1, 2017.  We seek candidates who have developed a research
program in linguistic anthropology, semiotic anthropology, and the
sociocultural analysis of inequality (race, class, gender, etc.) to teach
courses in those areas.  We expect candidates to teach one introductory
course in anthropology annually.  Candidates with ABD in anthropology will
be considered, although candidates with a Ph. D. in anthropology are
preferred.  For ABD candidates, the requirements for the Ph. D. should be
expected to be completed by July 1, 2017.  The person hired will contribute
at least one course to the Linguistics Program annually.  The teaching load
for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses
thereafter.  Candidates should submit materials via interfolio at
